Brainspotting Consultation

A peaceful place for deepening, reflection, and clinical clarity

Since 2015, Brainspotting has formed an important part of my work. Over the years, it has grown for me into more than just a method or a collection of interventions. It has become a way of looking and being present—with attention to the nervous system, the body, the relationship, and the natural pace at which change can occur.

As a recognized Brainspotting Consultant, I offer consultation to Brainspotting practitioners who wish to further deepen, refine, or shape their work with greater confidence. This can be done in the context of certification or recertification, but also simply when you need a place to look at your work together.

For me, consultation is not a moment to test knowledge. It is a conversation in which we explore what truly happened during a session, the choices you made, what you observed in the client, and what you noticed in yourself. It is precisely in this shared reflection that new clarity often emerges.

What a consultation with me looks like

For me, good consultation is not about finding the right technique, but about developing an increasingly reliable clinical compass.

Together, we look at questions such as:

How did you notice that this Brainspotting setup was appropriate?

What did the client's nervous system tell you?

When was slowing down helpful, and when was it not?

How did you maintain contact with the client and with yourself?

What happened when the process unexpectedly took a different direction?

These are not questions for which there is one right answer. They help you learn to look with more attention, so that the technique is increasingly supported by insight, attunement, and experience.

My consulting style is relational, neuro-experiential, and regulation-oriented. I like to work from a place of curiosity, with room for uncertainty and without rushing to solve anything. It often turns out that the most valuable insights emerge precisely there. In addition to practical case studies, attention is also paid to the subtler layers of the work: timing, pacing, dual attunement, body awareness, co-regulation, and the influence of your own presence on the process.

My way of working has been shaped by Brainspotting, but also by the work of Carl Rogers and Eugene Gendlin, insights from neurobiology, focusing, co-regulation, and developmental work. Furthermore, years of international collaboration, online groups, and working with complex and highly sensitive nervous systems have further deepened my perspective.

Consultation can provide support with:

Every consultation is different, but recurring topics include:

  • deepening your understanding of Brainspotting
  • learning to make choices with more confidence during a session
  • better distinguishing between regulation, activation, and dissociation
  • further refining dual attunement and pacing
  • working with complex or vulnerable processes
  • integrating Brainspotting into your own professional style
  • dealing with uncertainty and the 'not knowing'
  • reflecting on your own presence and reactions during a session
  • finding more coherence between theory, intuition, and clinical practice

The emphasis is not on collecting more and more techniques, but on developing a calm, clear, and embodied way of working.

Certification and recertification

As a Brainspotting Consultant, I also guide practitioners working towards their certification or recertification.

Many practitioners only discover over time that official certification is possible, or wonder what steps are required for it. Brainspotting training courses often pay only limited attention to this. Together, we can assess where you currently stand, what might still be needed, and how you can navigate the process in a calm and organized manner.

Even during certification and recertification, I do not view consultation as an exam, but rather as an opportunity to reflect on your development as a Brainspotting practitioner. We look at, among other things, clinical thinking within the Brainspotting framework, dual attunement, regulation and dysregulation, following the process, familiarity with various setups, and your ongoing professional development.

The goal is not to provide perfect answers, but to demonstrate how Brainspotting has developed in your practice.

Invitation

Sometimes it is helpful to look over the shoulder of someone familiar with both the technical and relational layers of Brainspotting.

A consultation offers space to slow down, gain a clearer view of what you are already doing, and find words for processes that often play out largely implicitly. Not to adopt a fixed way of working, but to further develop your own professional compass and learn to follow it with more confidence.

Whether you are at the beginning of a certification process, preparing for recertification, or simply need a place for professional reflection: you are most welcome.
